Problem

University websites often struggle to provide timely and consistent responses to a high volume of student and faculty inquiries. Traditional FAQ systems lack context awareness and require users to manually search for information, leading to frustration and inefficiency.

There was a need for an intelligent assistant capable of understanding natural language queries and delivering accurate responses instantly, while remaining scalable and easy to integrate into existing web platforms.

Solution

The solution was an AI-driven chatbot powered by the Microsoft Phi-2 (2.7B) language model, combined with a Python-based backend for natural language processing and intent recognition. The system processes user input through tokenization and NLP pipelines to generate relevant, context-aware responses.

A React-based frontend provides a smooth and interactive user experience, ensuring real-time communication between users and the AI system. The architecture was designed to be scalable, allowing seamless integration into institutional websites with minimal performance overhead.

This project demonstrates the practical application of lightweight language models in real-world environments.
